“Voice and Strength”

Hephaistos’ creations are the mythic precursors of robotics and artificial intelligence — a couple of millennia before science fiction. He created Pandora, the first woman, of clay — the archetype of bio-engineering. In Hesiod’s words, he “gave her voice and strength.”
