My Money Tree

I am in the process of rebuilding my foundation. A big deal: I’m looking at life changes on a scale I’ve rarely been impelled to undertake over the course of a lifetime. I need to manifest very concretely, which means I need to keep in touch with the sources of everything that feeds and nourishes me, keeping body and soul together, right here and now.

This image is also my Eight of Disks, the emblem of Sun in Virgo (that’s me) in the Tarot. It signifies the Virgo qualities of prudence (not always my first preference though I probably have an underutilized talent for it) and organization (again, something I’m very good at, but usually in fits and spurts that can be startling to those around me). Minding the connections, paying attention to details and how they fit in the bigger picture. Keeping alert and staying in integrity. And, valuing financial success as a keystone to my foundation, the roots of the roof-tree supporting the life house I’m building.

I thank my dear friend, fellow mythologist, and partner in Fanning the Flames, Maila Davenport, who always inspires me. Maila is a practicing proponent of the Vision Board for manifesting. The simple business of shapes in these collages exceeding the page boundary is something I, a trained artist, forgot about. Maila, a wonderfully talented untrained artist, does it all the time. Not for nothing, my simple definition of creativity: constantly challenging my own assumptions. The fact that I have so many, and so many small and large blindspots, is a continual surprise and will give me lots to do, every day, for a long time to come.
